White House could use federal law to control US-Mexico border crossings
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 02:59:23 GMT

Biden administration considering using immigration law used by Trump after Republicans rejected a negotiated immigration bill

The White House is considering using provisions of federal immigration law repeatedly tapped by Donald Trump to unilaterally enact a sweeping crackdown at the southern border, according to three people familiar with the deliberations.

The administration, stymied by Republican lawmakers who rejected a negotiated border bill earlier this month, has been exploring options that Joe Biden could deploy on his own without congressional approval, multiple officials and others familiar with the talks said. But the plans are nowhere near finalized and it’s unclear how the administration would draft any such executive actions in a way that would survive the inevitable legal challenges. The officials and those familiar with the talks spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity to comment on private White House discussions.

Britain’s ‘deep state’ thwarted my plans, Liz Truss tells US hard-right summit
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 01:47:09 GMT

Former Conservative PM, whose tenure lasted 50 days, tells CPAC she fell victim to UK’s ‘establishment … its bureaucrats and lawyers’

Liz Truss, the former British prime minister, spoke at a far-right conference in America on Wednesday, styling herself as a populist who took on America’s equivalent of the “deep state” in her own country.

Truss was among the headline speakers at this week’s Conservative Political Action Conference at the National Harbor in Maryland. CPAC is billed as the biggest annual gathering of conservatives in the US but has in recent years embraced Donald Trump’s brand of nativist-populism.

The Guardian view on Kemi Badenoch v the Post Office: a symptom of chronic shallowness | Editorial
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 19:32:11 GMT

If the government had cared as much about Horizon victims as the business secretary claims, she would not be in a row about delayed compensation

There are few undisputed facts in the row between Kemi Badenoch, the business and trade secretary, and Henry Staunton, former chairman of the Post Office, over delayed compensation for post office operators. The central allegation is that the government wanted payment deferred so the cost would not have to be met this side of a general election.

In rejecting that assertion, Ms Badenoch impugned Mr Staunton’s motives and character. She told parliament on Monday that the charges were “baseless” and vengeful. The business secretary explained that her accuser was embittered after being sacked last month, adding also that he had been under investigation for bullying. Mr Staunton says he was unaware of any such investigation. He has countered with a memo, dating back to January 2023, summarising a conversation with a senior civil servant, in which he was told to avoid painful long-term financial decisions. It would be better, Mr Staunton’s note of the meeting records, if the government were allowed to “hobble” into an election with such issues unaddressed.

Forget Labour and the Tories: the ‘carbon parties’ will not save us. That’s why Just Stop Oil wants your votes
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 15:36:52 GMT

We are seeing cowardice on a huge scale, so we will ratchet up pressure on MPs. We’ll also seek our own voice in parliament

After two years of civil resistance, Just Stop Oil has made the issue of new oil and gas licences part of the political debate. These consents, which had previously passed almost unnoticed, have now become a major event. The government has responded to the movement by issuing three sets of repressive legislation. That is a response – even if not the one required or demanded. Yet people are still on the streets in defiance.

The Conservative party has spent months raising the profile of Just Stop Oil, and painting the Labour party as its political wing. If only this were true. Still, this means that, ahead of and after the general election, Just Stop Oil is now part of the national political debate.

‘Morally bankrupt’: Tories may pay price for ignoring farmers

Farmers often feel ignored by Westminster politicians. Now, however, as a general election heaves slowly into view and the fight for the rural vote begins, it was not a huge surprise when the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, turned up at their annual conference.

UK parliament descends into chaos over Gaza ceasefire vote – video report
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 00:47:21 GMT

Dozens of lawmakers stormed out of Britain's parliament on Wednesday with tempers flaring as the three biggest political parties sought to outmanoeuvre each other over a vote on a ceasefire in Gaza. The uproar followed a decision by the speaker to ignore precedent and allow a vote which helped the opposition Labour Party avoid a large-scale rebellion among its own lawmakers over its position on the Israel-Hamas war. Lawmakers from the governing Conservatives and the opposition Scottish National Party (SNP) left the debating chamber in protest and some tried to take the rare step of holding proceedings in private. The speaker, Lindsay Hoyle, eventually apologised and said he had made his decision to allow lawmakers to vote on a range of views because he was concerned about their security after some had faced threats of violence over their stance on the war.

Anti-migrant, pro-Boris, anti-care worker: the Tories are pushing panic buttons that no longer work | Owen Jones
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 14:00:27 GMT

Targeting carers in the midst of a shortage seems ridiculous, but the party is desperate. It is running out of time and bereft of ideas

Finally, we have a government prepared to stand up to that under-scrutinised bane of British society: care workers. Our home secretary, James Cleverly, has gleefully announced an order banning overseas care workers from bringing “dependants” to the UK. Some naysayers may question the wisdom here, what with the national shortage of care workers, and with foreign staff in particular subject to gruesome exploitation, with some being paid effectively as little as £5 an hour and charged thousands of pounds in unexpected fees. I hear that, but you can’t put a price on being able to gaze into the eyes of an overworked, underpaid care worker as they tend to your loved one’s needs, knowing vast oceans separate them from their own beloved.

Spite, alas, does not pay the bills, and here lies the fatal flaw in the government’s strategy. Last week, the Sunday Telegraph’s editor penned a grief-stricken piece headlined “For the first time in my life, I’m now beginning to think Britain is finished”. Apologies for sounding unsympathetic about someone clearly in a right old miserable state, but if you are a Conservative convinced your country is quite literally doomed after 14 years of Tory rule, is it not time to ask yourself some searching questions? Blaming our national existential crisis on us having the wrong flavour of Conservative government doesn’t really make sense either, given that shapeshifting is inherent to the Tory DNA: we’ve seen shrink-the-state Thatcherism, “national conservatism”, unabashed rightwing populism, full-fat economic libertarianism and, well, whatever the hell our current variant is. Not only have these programmes failed on their own terms, but they have left Britain in an undeniably parlous state.

Is an uprising by Europe’s farmers sowing the seeds for the far right? - podcast
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 03:00:40 GMT

Furious farmers across Europe have blocked roads and railways as part of protests against new regulations and cheap imports. Jon Henley reports

The scenes are now familiar across Europe, from Poland to Portugal: angry farmers blocking roads, ports, railways and city centres. Parts of Brussels and Berlin have ground to a standstill in recent weeks. Farmers have closed down motorways, dumped manure, hurled eggs, trashed supermarkets, set fire to hay bales and pallets, and clashed with police.

As the Guardian’s Europe correspondent Jon Henley tells Michael Safi, there are several reasons for their anger, including rising costs of fuel and fertilisers, supermarket price squeezes and an influx of cheap imports crowding the marketplace. But there is a focus for their anger: what they see as onerous new green regulations from Brussels and their own national governments. The protests are working; politicians in recent weeks have compromised and delayed bringing in some measures as elections loom and the far right agitates against the green agenda. But the climate crisis is only getting worse, and as long-running droughts in Spain have shown, Europe is increasingly on the frontline.

Commons speaker apologises after Gaza ceasefire debate descends into chaos

Government boycotts precedent-breaking vote that saved Labour mutiny, leaving Tory and SNP MPs to aim fury at Lindsay Hoyle

The speaker of the House of Commons issued an unprecedented apology after a fractious and occasionally chaotic parliamentary debate on Gaza.

MPs voted unanimously for a Labour motion calling for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza, but only after Lindsay Hoyle upended years of parliamentary precedent to allow the party to bring its motion to a vote.

Stakes are high as SNP and Labour wrestle over Gaza ceasefire call
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 14:14:01 GMT

With an election looming and voters increasingly horrified by events in Gaza, both parties are jostling to find the right position

A few days after the Hamas atrocities of 7 October, Scotland’s first minister, Humza Yousaf, attended a service of solidarity at a synagogue near Glasgow. He embraced the mother of Bernard Cowan, a Scot killed by Hamas at the kibbutz where he had settled. “Your grief is my grief,” he told her.

Later that day, the SNP leader spoke to journalists at Bute House in Edinburgh: he described movingly the plight of his in-laws, who had become trapped under Israeli bombardment while visiting relatives in Gaza. He became one of the first senior political voices in the UK to call for a ceasefire on both sides to allow humanitarian aid into the territory.

DWP decision to stop referring benefit claimants to food banks is shameful | Letter
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 18:17:26 GMT

The logic that such referrals would breach data rules is flawed and shortsighted, writes Tom Levitt of the Fair Credit Charity

Twenty years ago, an American supermarket, discovering that its own low-paid employees needed to use a food bank, stopped supplying that food bank with food. Old traditions die hard. Here, the Department for Work and Pensions is to cease referring benefit claimants to food banks because it “breaches data privacy law” (Jobcentres told to stop referring benefit claimants to food banks, 16 February).

Some food banks will no longer supply some families with food. The logic of DWP’s position is that all of the other agencies involved in referral – social services, charities and health centres – must also be in breach of data protection regulation.

Death of Russian opposition leader will add to anxiety of Maria Kolesnikova’s family who have not heard from her for a year

Shehbaz Sharif expected to become prime minister again after plans for coalition government announced between PML-N and PPP parties

Imran Khan’s political rivals have announced details of a coalition agreement, naming Shehbaz Sharif as their joint candidate for prime minister amid continuing concerns about the legitimacy of the recent elections.

Khan’s rivals said at a news conference of party leaders late on Tuesday that they had secured the required majority of votes to form a coalition government. The parliament will elect Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as the new prime minister when the inaugural session of the National Assembly is convened later this month, the party leaders said.

Competition minister Andrew Leigh just spoke with ABC RN about, you guessed it, competition.

Speaking about supermarket prices and concentration in particular, Leigh said he is worried that Australia’s market concentration has “increased over recent decades”.

We’ve got evidence now from very good micro data, which wasn’t available a few years back, that market concentration has gone up, that markups have increased – that is the gap between costs and prices – and that there’s less job switching than there was in the past which is a problem, because switching jobs is one of the best ways people boost their wages. All of that points to a less dynamic economy, and maybe one of the reasons why we just had the lousiest decade of productivity growth in the post-war era.

It’s not a priority that we’re focusing on at the moment.

Germans must capitalise on anti-AfD momentum, says political veteran
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 05:00:45 GMT

Exclusive: Time is ripe for challenge to growing far-right support, says former Bundestag president

A former president of the German Bundestag has urged the country’s political leaders to seize on the momentum of recent nationwide demonstrations against far-right populism to build “an alliance of democrats”, comparing the outpouring of anger to the protests that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Wolfgang Thierse, a veteran social democrat considered by many to be a moral authority in contemporary Germany, said he was shocked by the rise of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), which has struggled to distance itself from revelations that party members attended a meeting at which plans for the mass deportation of foreigners were discussed.

Disappearing tongues: the endangered language crisis
Thu, 22 Feb 2024 05:00:44 GMT

Linguistic diversity on Earth is far more profound and fundamental than previously imagined. But it’s also crumbling fast

At the heart of linguistics is a radical premise: all languages are equal. This underlies everything we do at the Endangered Language Alliance, an eccentric extended family of linguists, language activists, polyglots and ordinary people, whose mission is to document endangered languages and support linguistic diversity, especially in the world’s hyperdiverse cities.

Language is a universal and democratic fact cutting across all human societies: no human group is without it, and no language is superior to any other. More than race or religion, language is a window on to the deepest levels of human diversity. The familiar map of the world’s 200 or so nation-states is superficial compared with the little-known map of its 7,000 languages. Some languages may specialise in talking about melancholy, seaweed or atomic structure; some grammars may glory in conjugating verbs while others bristle with syntactic invention. Languages represent thousands of natural experiments: ways of seeing, understanding and living that should form part of any meaningful account of what it is to be human.

While people die in Gaza, the UK parliament goes to war over the ceasefire | John Crace
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 19:48:05 GMT

Everyone wanted a ceasefire. Only they wanted their own ceasefire, not anyone else’s

Just when you hoped you’d reached rock bottom, parliament finds a way of going still lower. Westminster bows to no one in its efforts to let you and the country down. Luckily, it can’t let itself down. That would imply it had some primitive, protozoan conscience. Politicians who strive for dignity – who demand respect – prove themselves to be made of straw. Little men and women driven entirely by their own worst instincts.

Take the conflict in Israel and Gaza. The murder of about 1,200 Israelis by Hamas terrorists on 7 October. More than 100 hostages still held. The killing of 30,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Much of Gaza reduced to rubble. Food, water and medical supplies all critical.

The Guardian view on celebrating working-class memory: a way of looking to the future | Editorial
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 19:31:15 GMT

Historic England’s Everyday Heritage programme can help foster a sense of local pride and empowerment

For admirers of a venerable progressive tradition in academia, it is proving an uplifting start to the year. The idea of “history from below”, foregrounding the experience of groups grievously neglected by traditional studies, was most famously pioneered by the Marxist historian EP Thompson. In his The Making of the English Working Class, Thompson rescued industrial textile workers from what he described as the “enormous condescension of posterity”. In this, the month of his centenary, other neglected voices have come to the fore.

In a fascinating new book entitled Remembering Peasants, the historian Patrick Joyce has performed a recuperative service on behalf of an often disdained culture – one that now has all but vanished in Europe. Prof Joyce has set out to rectify the record for the lost peasant generations who, historically, “do not generally speak, they are spoken to”. And in a very different way, a list of 56 new working-class heritage projects released on Wednesday by Historic England will facilitate the telling of some remarkable and little-known stories.

Criticising Israel doesn’t mean we are antisemitic | Letters
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 18:17:33 GMT

Readers respond to an article by Jonathan Freedland about antisemitism in Britain in relation to Israel’s war on Hamas

I read and carefully reread Jonathan Freedland’s column (Those who attack Jews in the UK are not striking a blow for Palestine: they are behaving as antisemites always have, 16 February). I always do. He is one of the most thoughtful and perceptive columnists around, but in this column he seems to me – and I apologise if I have misunderstood him – to suggest that it is virtually impossible for me, a liberal-minded non-Jew, to say publicly that the current policy of the Israeli government and actions of the Israeli Defense Forces make me sick to my stomach, without being antisemitic. As, of course, did the actions of Hamas on 7 October.

I understand his point that the one can lead to the other; that the damning of Israel’s politics and policies sits alongside racism. But it is not the same thing. While the dividing line is thin, it does exist. And if it is not maintained, how do people like me express honestly held views? I would never do anything to harm or to insult a Jewish person or institution in this country as a means of expressing my contempt for and rage over the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right coalition.

A 20mph speed limit seemed unfeasible – until I learned to love pootling along | Adrian Chiles
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 16:39:53 GMT

The lower limit wasn’t brought in for nothing: 30mph now feels decidedly dangerous. Here’s to the pace and pleasures of the slow lane

It’s amazing what you can get used to, how you can learn new normals, how you can – perish the thought – learn the error of your ways. Like most drivers, when I first saw a 20mph limit sign I thought I was seeing things. I’d heard that they had been thinking about this – whoever “they” might be: the government, the council, the woke people, the health-and-safety-obsessed people. But I never thought they would go through with it. And yet here it was.

They couldn’t be serious. There’s slow and there’s slow, but this was unbelievable. Nobody was going to get anywhere; the world would grind to a halt; even time itself might start engaging reverse gear. They would surely have to engage reverse gear themselves and put a stop to it.

Adrian Chiles is a broadcaster, writer and Guardian columnist

Emotional, messy and breathtakingly ruthless: the hidden life of Keir Starmer
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 10:00:13 GMT

The most working class leader of the Labour party for a generation, he is well ahead in the polls, but still a mystery to many. His biographer reveals what drives this unusual politician

When friends heard I was writing a book about Keir Starmer, there were the usual questions: does he believe in anything? What’s he like? Isn’t he, they asked with a frown, a bit boring? The last of these was the easiest to answer because he really isn’t dull. Starmer is good company, engagingly funny and listens in a way that too many politicians too often fail to do.

There is, of course, a long tradition of advisers (or ex-advisers like me) wailing on about how they wish more voters could see this or that candidate as we do. But the gap between the reality and perception of Starmer is bigger than with most, and it cannot simply be down to the way he sometimes closes in on himself when a camera is pointed at him, or how the online snobs – largely from the left – mock his accent and call him “Keith”.

‘The worst film ever made’: how Sex Lives of the Potato Men broke British cinema
Tue, 20 Feb 2024 11:43:10 GMT

When the puerile comedy bombed, the film-makers blamed the critics and the Tories blamed the UK Film Council. Twenty years on, we reassess the legacy of a cinematic pariah whose champions include Stewart Lee and Mike Leigh

Actor Dominic Coleman was about to board a flight back from Australia when he received a text from Mark Gatiss about a film they had starred in together. It was a quote from the Sunday Times: “Is this the worst British film ever made?”

By the time Coleman was changing planes in Hong Kong, disgust at the film had spread to the front pages of the British newspapers on sale at the airport. It was, he remembers, “like the end of the world. It felt like people were pointing at me on the plane: that’s the guy, it’s him. It was a really difficult time and it really freaked me out.”

Why the NHS needs Martha’s rule – podcast
Wed, 21 Feb 2024 03:00:03 GMT

Following a campaign by her family in memory of Martha Mills, the NHS is introducing Martha’s rule giving hospital patients in England access to a rapid review from a separate medical team if they are concerned with the care they are receiving

When Martha Mills fell off her bike on a family holiday in Wales in 2021, she damaged her pancreas and needed treatment in hospital. It was serious, beyond the expertise of the local hospital, so the 13-year-old was transferred to King’s College hospital in London.

The medics at King’s, one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals, were reassuring. Although the injury was serious, it was treatable and Martha could expect to make a full recovery and be back at school within weeks.

In the rapidly advancing landscape of AI technology and innovation, LimeWire emerges as a unique platform in the realm of generative AI tools. This platform not only stands out from the multitude of existing AI tools but also brings a fresh approach to content generation. LimeWire not only empowers users to create AI content but also provides creators with creative ways to share and monetize their creations.

As we explore LimeWire, our aim is to uncover its features, benefits for creators, and the exciting possibilities it offers for AI content generation. This platform presents an opportunity for users to harness the power of AI in image creation, all while enjoying the advantages of a free and accessible service.

Let's unravel the distinctive features that set LimeWire apart in the dynamic landscape of AI-powered tools, understanding how creators can leverage its capabilities to craft unique and engaging AI-generated images.

LimeWire, a name once associated with the notorious file-sharing tool from the 2000s, has undergone a significant transformation. The LimeWire we discuss today is not the file-sharing application of the past but has re-emerged as an entirely new entity—a cutting-edge AI content publishing platform.

This revamped LimeWire invites users to register and unleash their creativity by crafting original AI content, which can then be shared and showcased on the LimeWire Studio. Notably, even acclaimed artists and musicians, such as Deadmau5, Soulja Boy, and Sean Kingston, have embraced this platform to publish their content in the form of NFT music, videos, and images.

Beyond providing a space for content creation and sharing, LimeWire introduces monetization models to empower users to earn revenue from their creations. This includes avenues such as earning ad revenue and participating in the burgeoning market of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). As we delve further, we'll explore these monetization strategies in more detail to provide a comprehensive understanding of LimeWire's innovative approach to content creation and distribution.

LimeWire Studio welcomes content creators into its fold, providing a space to craft personalized AI-focused content for sharing with fans and followers. Within this creative hub, every piece of content generated becomes not just a creation but a unique asset—ownable and tradable. Fans have the opportunity to subscribe to creators' pages, immersing themselves in the creative journey and gaining ownership of digital collectibles that hold tradeable value within the LimeWire community. Notably, creators earn a 2.5% royalty each time their content is traded, adding a rewarding element to the creative process.

The platform's flexibility is evident in its content publication options. Creators can choose to share their work freely with the public or opt for a premium subscription model, granting exclusive access to specialized content for subscribers.

LimeWire AI Studio

As of the present moment, LimeWire focuses on AI Image Generation, offering a spectrum of creative possibilities to its user base. The platform, however, has ambitious plans on the horizon, aiming to broaden its offerings by introducing AI music and video generation tools in the near future. This strategic expansion promises creators even more avenues for expression and engagement with their audience, positioning LimeWire Studio as a dynamic and evolving platform within the realm of AI-powered content creation.

AI Image Generation Tools

The LimeWire AI image generation tool presents a versatile platform for both the creation and editing of images. Supporting advanced models such as Stable Diffusion 2.1, Stable Diffusion XL, and DALL-E 2, LimeWire offers a sophisticated toolkit for users to delve into the realm of generative AI art.

Much like other tools in the generative AI landscape, LimeWire provides a range of options catering to various levels of complexity in image creation. Users can initiate the creative process with prompts as simple as a few words or opt for more intricate instructions, tailoring the output to their artistic vision.

What sets LimeWire apart is its seamless integration of different AI models and design styles. Users have the flexibility to effortlessly switch between various AI models, exploring diverse design styles such as cinematic, digital art, pixel art, anime, analog film, and more. Each style imparts a distinctive visual identity to the generated AI art, enabling users to explore a broad spectrum of creative possibilities.

The platform also offers additional features, including samplers, allowing users to fine-tune the quality and detail levels of their creations. Customization options and prompt guidance further enhance the user experience, providing a user-friendly interface for both novice and experienced creators.

Excitingly, LimeWire is actively developing its proprietary AI model, signaling ongoing innovation and enhancements to its image generation capabilities. Automatically Mint Your Content As NFTs

Upon completing your creative endeavor on LimeWire, the platform allows you the option to publish your content. An intriguing feature follows this step: LimeWire automates the process of minting your creation as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT), utilizing either the Polygon or Algorand blockchain. This transformative step imbues your artwork with a unique digital signature, securing its authenticity and ownership in the decentralized realm.

Creators on LimeWire hold the power to decide the accessibility of their NFT creations. By opting for a public release, the content becomes discoverable by anyone, fostering a space for engagement and interaction. Furthermore, this choice opens the avenue for enthusiasts to trade the NFTs, adding a layer of community involvement to the artistic journey.

Alternatively, LimeWire acknowledges the importance of exclusivity. Creators can choose to share their posts exclusively with their premium subscribers. In doing so, the content remains a special offering solely for dedicated fans, creating an intimate and personalized experience within the LimeWire community. This flexibility in sharing options emphasizes LimeWire's commitment to empowering creators with choices in how they connect with their audience and distribute their digital creations.

After creating your content, you can choose to publish the content. It will automatically mint your creation as an NFT on the Polygon or Algorand blockchain. You can also choose whether to make it public or subscriber-only.

If you make it public, anyone can discover your content and even trade the NFTs. If you choose to share the post only with your premium subscribers, it will be exclusive only to your fans.

Earn Revenue From Your Content

Additionally, you can earn ad revenue from your content creations as well.

When you publish content on LimeWire, you will receive 70% of all ad revenue from other users who view your images, music, and videos on the platform.

This revenue model will be much more beneficial to designers. You can experiment with the AI image and content generation tools and share your creations while earning a small income on the side.

LMWR Tokens

The revenue you earn from your creations will come in the form of LMWR tokens, LimeWire’s own cryptocurrency.

Your earnings will be paid every month in LMWR, which you can then trade on many popular crypto exchange platforms like Kraken, ByBit, and UniSwap.

You can also use your LMWR tokens to pay for prompts when using LimeWire generative AI tools.

Pricing Plans

You can sign up to LimeWire to use its AI tools for free. You will receive 10 credits to use and generate up to 20 AI images per day. You will also receive 50% of the ad revenue share. However, you will get more benefits with premium plans.

  • Basic plan:

For $9.99 per month, you will get 1,000 credits per month, up to 2 ,000 image generations, early access to new AI models, and 50% ad revenue share

The ongoing commitment of LimeWire to innovation is evident in its plans to enhance generative AI tools with new features and models. Canva Pros and Cons

  • A user-friendly interface
  • Canva is a great tool for people who want to create professional graphics but don’t have graphic design skills.
  • Hundreds of templates, so you'll never have to start from scratch.
  • Wide variety of templates to fit multiple uses
  • Branding kits to keep your team consistent with the brand colors and fonts
  • Creating visual content on the go
  • You can find royalty free images, audio, and video without having to subscribe to another service.

  • Some professional templates are available for Pro user only
  • Advanced photo editing features like blurring or erasing a specific area are missing.
  • Some elements that fall outside of a design are tricky to retrieve.
  • Features (like Canva presentations) could use some improvement.
  • If you are a regular user of Adobe products, you might find Canva's features limited.
  • Prefers to work with vectors. Especially logos.
  • Expensive enterprise pricing

In general, Canva is an excellent tool for those who need simple images for projects. If you are a graphic designer with experience, you will find Canva’s platform lacking in customization and advanced features – particularly vectors. But if you have little design experience, you will find Canva easier to use than advanced graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator for most projects. Molly White Reviews Blockchain Book

Molly White—of “Web3 is Going Just Great” fame—reviews Chris Dixon’s blockchain solutions book: Read Write Own:

In fact, throughout the entire book, Dixon fails to identify a single blockchain project that has successfully provided a non-speculative service at any kind of scale. The closest he ever comes is when he speaks of how “for decades, technologists have dreamed of building a grassroots internet access provider”. He describes one project that “got further than anyone else”: Helium. He’s right, as long as you ignore the fact that Helium was providing LoRaWAN, not Internet, that by the time he was writing his book Helium hotspots had long since passed the phase where they might generate even enough tokens for their operators to merely break even, and that the network was pulling in somewhere around $1,150 in usage fees a month despite the company being valued at $1.2 billion. Oh, and that the company had widely lied to the public about its supposed big-name clients, and that its executives have been accused of hoarding the project’s token to enrich themselves. But hey, a16z sunk millions into Helium (a fact Dixon never mentions), so might as well try to drum up some new interest!...
